Humminbird Helix 7 SI GPS review
Although the Humminbird Helix 7 SI GPS is far from an entry-level fish finder at a price of just over $600.00, it sure packs a lot of features into a smaller package.
Some of the features included are: Humminbird’s own Side Imaging, Down Imaging and SwitchFire Sonar. The Helix 7 sports a 7-inch display, which allows enough room for a split-screen display, which is crucial on today’s serious fishing boats. The Helix 7 also has a Micro SD card slot which allows you to add charts such as: Humminbird’s LakeMaster, AutoChart and AutoChart Pro. If you prefer third party charts the Helix 7 also supports: Navionics Gold/HotMaps.
The 800H x 480V pixel, 256-color display has more than enough resolution to see even the smallest schooling fish in the water column. The 200/83/455 standard sonar frequencies will allow you to “see” in water depths of up to 1,500 feet. And the Side Imaging on the Helix works in depths up to 100 feet with amazing image quality.
The Helix 7 supports an included transom mounted transducer. The system can store up to 2,500 Waypoints and 45 Routes. The built-in GPS enables chart plotter functions as well as tracking your speed. A temperature alarm is also included as is a selective fish ID system.
The Humminbird Helix 7 SI GPS is a system that will not disappoint even the most die-hard anglers on the water today.
